Jeffrey A. Henigan, LAADC, CADCII
I love the work I do because it allows me to do God's will in my life. There is great satisfaction in doing what I was intended to do. And I am good at it. Being able to see people who come to me in a tremendous amount of pain finish the early work on their recovery and leave looking, feeling and acting full of freedom and life is a great privilege. This is what I love to see and be a part of. I have been an addictions counselor since 1981 and have worked in the field continuously since then. I have been variously a program manager and a counselor or both. For many years I have worked with adolescents as well as adults. Outside of my private practice, Veritas Counseling, I am an addictions counselor at Sierra Vista Hospital in Sacramento CA and work in the same capacity for Kaiser Permanente Hospital also in Sacramento. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from California State University, Sacramento in 1981, have done graduate work there as well, and have been a Certified Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADCII) since 1984. My work with adolescents began with an internship with David Gust's New Directions counseling practice in 1985. I use David's approach in my own work with adolescents and have implemented it in other counseling agencies. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependencies (NCADD), Sacramento affiliate, and am a past president of the Board. I have been a member of the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADAC)for many years. I have been sober since 1976 [I was 21yo] and have been a member of a self-help recovery group since then. I am married and an active Roman Catholic. Contact Jeffrey Henigan at
